| It
may have looked easy to the casual
observer but much hard work went
into winning the 39th Times-News
Open
During
the Finals Mike averaged 238.6 (a
record)
and only trailed after one of the
finals' 16 games (the
sixth by 19 pins) but
in winning Mike made many, many
great shots, usually in the 9th
and 10th frames when matches were
on the line. In compiling a 12-4
match play record Mike never shot
lower than 202. During the
qualifier he only failed to make
the 200 mark once in 10 games.
